family frustrations

Posted on 2006.09.12 at 17:51
'Kay peoples, I just need to rant. I am so fed up! I hate to sound like s spoiled brat, but I feel like a friggin' slave.
Every day I am expected to clean up after breakfast (11 people = huge mess). Every saturday I have to sweep and mop the entire house (after cleaning up after breakfast). I am expected to help cook lunch (for 11 people). I am expected to help watch the little ones and care for them at all times of the day, even if I'm doing my schoolwork (change diapers, bathe, brush teeth, dress, play with them, hold them, even tuck them in at night!). I am expected to do anyhting else I am asked without complaining, and I do this. I do all of this.

what does my oldest sister do?
sometimes she helps with lunch
she mows the lawn every four weeks
she does whatever the hell she wants

I feel like a selfish, self-centered brat, but this makes me angry and right now i'm pretty bummed thinking about it all.

Have you ever noticed that there are three types of people: 'lol' lovers, 'lol' sympathizers, and 'lol' haters.
'lol' lovers use 'lol' as every other word so that's it completely obnoxious.
'lol' sympathizers use 'lol' to show that what they are saying is not hostile, but only use it when neccessary.
'lol' haters never use 'lol' and hate people that do.

I'm a sympathizer.

why is it that when you're in the shower you remember all the stupid things you've done all day? Or is it just me? Probably is.

Pendragon rox my sox

Posted on 2006.08.17 at 19:16
I drew a picture today of Bobby Pendragon, a character from one of my favorite series of books by Mr. D.J. MacHale.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c207/Meredith_Kenobi015/pendragon.jpg

any Pendragon fan worth his/her/its salt can see I used The Rivers Of Zadaa cover to model this picture. BUT I made it a little different 'cause I wanted to draw Bobby how I see him in my head.
It's not the best picture I've ever drawn, but oh well.

I'm reading about the Civil War for school. It's pretty dang depressing.

boo ya!

Today I sold my first shawl pin! See, my family owns this business where we make knitting related things. I hand-turn shawl pins (things to hold on a knitted shawl). You know the lathe I was talking about? Well, I make these things and we just put ‘em up on the website. And one sold! That’s $9 dollars towards my guitar fund! Boo ya!

Urgh. I've got a cold and don't feel very fantastic.

! We were at the library--me and my whole family, 'cept my dad: My mom, me, my six sisters and two brothers. And these two chicks walked by, turned to look at us and said 'Whoa!" And started giggling. >:| Couple of jerk-ettes, that's all they were.

book I finished and started. Not that anybody really cares that much...

Well I finished that book 'Jude' I think I'll update it to 4 stars. It was written wonderfully and actually got my heart pounding a few times. The plot was good, and really made a point about how people care too much for ther careers than they should.

Current book I'm reading: Sir Thursday by Garth Nix, the 4'th book in the Keys to the Kingdom series. I give it 3 stars so far. It's not written exceedingly well, but it's still pretty good. The plot is basically get rid of the bad guys.

lathe-ing is fun. Erm...that's not a word is it? What word WOULD you use?

well, I'm feeling bettre today. On the new mini-lathe my Dad just bought I made a pair of knitting needles, a Harry Poter wand, and a bun stick. :P It's fun.
Hopefully I won't start hating it too soon, 'cause my family has a knitting-related business, and I can make knitting needles and make some moolah. Oh yeah. Then I can buy the electric guitar I want.

frustrations of a lefty

Posted on 2006.07.08 at 21:06
Current Mood: frustrated
I am so fed up! Being a lefty sucks. What brought this on was, my dad bought a mini-lathe yesterday, and was making a bowl. I was all reared up to try it – but I couldn’t! The bowl was spinning in such a way that I couldn’t do it unless I did it backwards like a right-handed person would. I tried. It was impossible.
If you’re a lefty you’ll probably recognize some of the things I list below. If you’re a righty try to imagine this: try to imagine you live in a world where almost everything is made where you have to use your non-dominant hand. Yeah. I do it every day. I’m strongly left-handed and it’s difficult for me to do things the right-handed way.
Here’s a list of things a lefty will recognize, and a righty probably didn’t even realize would be a problem:

- When you’re a lefty you have to sit at the end of the table or you bump elbows with your righty family member. In my case the end of the table is occupied by a high chair so while I’m eating I am literally being smeared by food.

- When you’re a lefty using knives is difficult. Look at a knife – the serration is on the wrong side for a lefty so that cutting things can be quite difficult.

- We have to buy special left/righty scissors and even then they’re hard to use. Another example of lefty /righty things we have to buy is vegetable peelers. It is impossible to peel vegetables with a righty peeler. Personal experience.

- The average door is made with the handle on the left side on the side that you open it. If you try to open such a door with your left hand your elbow will bump the doorframe. Doors are made so that it’s harder for a lefty to enter a room, and easier for them to exit. Yeah. That makes me feel great about myself.

- When we write or draw, our hand smudges what we’ve just written so that we get graphite and ink all over our hands.

- Spiral notebooks are very hard to use because the spiral gets in the way of your hand.

- Coffee mugs with pictures are made so that you can see the picture while you drink. Not so for a lefty.

- Cars with stick shift have the stick on the right side. Very hard to do at first.

- Woodworking tools are made for right handed people so that for a lefty it can actually be dangerous. Hand sanders even blow air and sawdust right in your face.

- When a righty tries to show you how to do something their way, you can’t do it their way – you have to flip it around first.

- For me it sort of stresses me out to watch someone pour something with their right hand, because for me, I know my hand would be unsteady. So it makes me nervous.

- When you’re serving your plate you have to flip the spoons around first in the pots or on the serving plates, and sometimes the person behind you (if there’s a line) gets frustrated because all the spoons are flipped.

- Things are always set up for right handed people, such as a self-check at a library. When a lefty tries to use one of those, the chords get in the way horribly and you have to move the scanner before you can even use it. Or pens on strings at check-outs – the chord gets in the way there, too.

- Headphones with only one chord, the chord is on the left side so that for a lefty, when you’re listening to music and trying to draw at the same time the chord keeps getting in your way

- You have to find special things for sports such as golf clubs, baseball mitts. The one good thing about that is no one (unless s/he’s a lefty) can borrow and ruin your stuff.

- Microwaves are set up so that when a lefty puts stuff in and take sit back out you bump your elbow on the door.

- Computers always have the mouse set up on the right side. Arg.

- Pants with one pocket: the pocket is always on the right side. Not good for a lefty.

- Sewing machines are made for rightys. A lefty bumps their elbow a lot.

- Lefty guitars are more expensive.

And that is only stuff I just thought up off the top of my head. Feel free to add more.

well today me and my Mam worked out what I have to do for school this year, and we worked out I only need four more credits *really happy dance* (I'm homeschooled, see)
1 credit in US history
1 credit in English
1/2 a credit in PE
and 1 1/2 electives. I'm doing US gov. and creative writing.
Boo yah! Then I'm done with high school! :D

Well, first I'll have to take my ACT and that's gonna be scary. [face_worried]

current book I'm reading: Jude by Kate Morgenroth, a book about some kid who is accused of killing his father. 'Tis all right so far. I give it 2 1/2 stars. I'll see if it gets more by the time I'm finished.

Well I was introduced to this LJ thing by a friend who's stuff I read on a Star Wars forum, so this is my first-ever entry.
My family are watching some movie and they've got the telly turned up REALLY LOUD. I swear they're all deaf. I'm the only one who can hear around here. *rolls eyes* I'm going to be deaf before this movie is over. Honestly. I hope this movie's not too long. The telly is RIGHT THERE BESIDE ME and it's turned up SO LOUD that my ears are ringing.
*yells at them to turn it off*
*they yell back: 'no!!! Shut yer pie hole!!!!'*
Sigh. Story of my life. Tune in tomorrow for further adventures from...

...feeper! Who knows it's impossible to fly without a cape!

edit: I realized last night I posted 'LV' instead of 'LJ'. *doh!* I realized this when I was in the shower. I do that sometimes. I realize typos I've done while I'm a'taking my shower. I dunno why.
